Chakras: From Their Discovery To Their Balancing For Optimal Wellbeing
If you have entered the realm of spirituality or if you have been on the spiritual path for quite sometime, you have heard of the concepts of Chakras. These Energy Centers are a frequent point of reference for us as healers, serving as a tool to help individuals comprehend the dynamics of their lives and where their focus should be directed.
As I continue along my healing journey, I've recently developed a keen interest in exploring the origins of Chakras. They are widely accepted as a tangible reality (and as an Energy healer, I can personally sense their presence in my sessions), and their impact on our healing processes appears to be immensely significant.
Where does the concepts of Chakras come from?
The idea of Chakras originates from Hinduism, specifically from the four Vedas. The Vedas are a collection of religious texts that have their roots in ancient India. Written in Vedic Sanskrit, these texts represent the oldest stratum of Sanskrit literature and form the earliest scriptures of Hinduism. The term "Vedas" itself signifies spiritual knowledge.
Consequently, these spiritual writings have evolved into spiritual truths over the years and are closely linked to the modern concept of spirituality. It's remarkable to observe how these ancient writings have exerted a multifaceted influence on our understanding of our connection with the spiritual realm.
Through the concept of chakras, we have developed various practices aimed at enhancing our well-being and health by regulating the flow of energy through our chakras. These practices encompass yoga, pranic breathing, Ayurvedic medicine, and of course energy healing.
It is not surprising that Chakras hold a significant role in various energy healing methods, and this foundational knowledge has transcended into other religious movements. We can discern its presence in various Chinese medical and non-medical practices, such as acupuncture, as well as in religious practices like Christianity, where it relates to the notions of Heaven and Hell (as discussed in my Instagram post below.)
Expanding our understanding beyond the Energy Centers, it's crucial to recognize that the chakras are the outcomes of two primary energetic streams coursing through our bodies, synchronized with our breathing patterns.
One of these energy currents originates from the earth, travels up through our feet, and ascends, while the other flows from above our heads into our bodies, eventually making its way down through our feet, both in a spiral manner.
These energy flows serve as the activating forces behind our energy centers, or Chakras.
In addition, there exists a third energy stream within our bodies, represented by our spine, often referred to as the Kundalini pathways. While this energy is a topic of considerable significance, it falls beyond the scope of this post's purpose.
Understanding the Chakras (चक्र ).
The name is of Chakra or “Cakra”comes from the Sanskrit word “चक्र - C̣akra” meaning “wheel”. A chakra is a disc-like, rotating energy vortex through which energy is pumped out into the related organs of the body.
Originating from ancient Indian traditions, chakras refer to the seven vital energy centers located along the spine. Each chakra corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being. Understanding these energy centers helps us tune into the flow of vital life force energy, or prana, within us.
During the Chakra portion of my teaching sessions, I often prompt my students to envision a flower. The reason behind this is that a flower represents the pinnacle of a plant's expression, much like our Chakras symbolize the highest manifestation of our energy.
Although our energetic body comprises approximately 114 chakras, our attention typically gravitates toward the most prominent ones—known as the Seven Chakras. Each of these Chakras is linked to a specific sound (as they are energetic vibrations that produce sounds), a color (owing to the sound vibrations also emitting color vibrations), and a governing element.

Balancing the Energy Centers
When our energy centers are aligned and balanced, we experience a profound sense of wellbeing, both physically and emotionally. Here are some techniques to help you achieve this:
1. Meditation: Regular meditation practices, focusing on each chakra, can help cleanse and balance the energy centers. Visualize each chakra as a vibrant, spinning wheel of energy, allowing it to open, flow, and harmonize.
2. Yoga: Practicing specific asanas or yoga poses that target each chakra aids in activation and alignment. Postures such as tree pose for the root chakra or cobra pose for the heart chakra can be remarkably effective.
3. Sound Healing: Immersing yourself in soothing sounds, like singing bowls or binaural beats designed for each chakra, can restore balance and harmony to these energy centers.
4. Crystals: Utilizing crystals with corresponding properties can support chakra balancing. Amethyst for the crown chakra or rose quartz for the heart chakra are just a few examples of crystals that can enhance the energy flow.
5. Energy Healing: Seeking assistance from professionals trained in Reiki, acupuncture, or other energy healing practices can provide tremendous support in balancing and unblocking the chakras.
